Core Beliefs

These are the foundational beliefs of this Church.

God
We believe there is one true and living God who is the creator and sustainer of all life. God reveals himself as Father, Son and Holy Spirit. God over all, through all, and in all.

Scripture
Scripture is the God-breathed story of his relationship with people since before the beginning of time. God uses the words in this book to inform and transform his people, shaping them into his image for his service.

People
God created people to live in intimate relationship with Him. When we sin we sever that relationship with God. In spite of our sins, God chose to pursue this relationship. This loving pursuit ultimately led to the gift of his one and only Son, Jesus.

Salvation
Because we are helpless to heal our broken relationship, God graciously restores relationship with people through the gift of his Son, Jesus Christ. God calls people to respond to his grace through faith, initially expressed in repentance, confession and baptism. God restores the relationship, forgiving sin and sealing us with his Holy Spirit. We respond with a life of worship.

Church
The church is a community of broken people saved by God’s grace and shaped by God’s Spirit to reflect Jesus to the world. The church is the body of Christ. Each member is uniquely gifted by the Holy Spirit to take on his or her role in God’s redeeming story. The church is God’s family called to live in unity, bearing burdens and sharing joys, with faithfully awaiting the return of Christ.

Discipleship
God’s story continues among us as we become apprentices of Jesus by imitating his life of love and inviting people into relationship with God through Jesus. Throughout this journey God shapes us as the Holy Spirit bears fruit in our lives.

Mission Statement

Loving God, loving people to the praise of His glorious grace!
Matthew 22:34-40
But when the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sadducees with his reply, they met together to question him again. One of them, an expert in religious law, tried to trap him with this question: “Teacher, which is the most important commandment in the law of Moses?”
Jesus replied, “‘You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’ The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.”
Ephesians 1:3-14

Gosford Church is loving God, & loving people to the praise of His glorious grace!

All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ. Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure. So we praise God for the glorious grace he has poured out on us who belong to his dear Son. He is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins. He has showered his kindness on us, along with all wisdom and understanding.

God has now revealed to us his mysterious plan regarding Christ, a plan to fulfil his own good pleasure. And this is the plan: At the right time he will bring everything together under the authority of Christ? everything in heaven and on earth. Furthermore, because we are united with Christ, we have received an inheritance from God, for he chose us in advance, and he makes everything work out according to his plan.

God’s purpose was that we Jews who were the first to trust in Christ would bring praise and glory to God. And now you Gentiles have also heard the truth, the Good News that God saves you. And when you believed in Christ, he identified you as his own by giving you the Holy Spirit, whom he promised long ago. The Spirit is God’s guarantee that he will give us the inheritance he promised and that he has purchased us to be his own people. He did this so we would praise and glorify him.
